Cups
In the suit of Cups we see the element of water. The border of the cards contains the color blue, which is the indicator for all cards with a water or Cups influence. Cups are all about emotions and feelings. Possibly the most positive of all the suits, Cups often bear good fortune and love when present in a reading. Like fire, the element of water is always in motion. Its shape moves and changes constantly. Water quenches your spiritual thirst and is the only element on the planet that exists naturally in three stats at the same time: solid, liquid, and gas.
Still waters run deep, and our emotional subconscious mirrors that notion. With water, there is a mystery to what lies beneath its cool, reflective surface. Some will take the chance and challenge of Cups to wade into its deep recesses, finding their heart's desire resting beneath its calm reflection.
The element of water is held by the cups. A smooth and fluid motion is necessary so as not to spill. Cups have a graceful motion. They take their time and often wait, sitting still but in deep contemplation of the matters at hand.
With Cups, there is a mystery. One cannot have pleasure without some pain, but the pain brings sweetness and joyous recognition to the positive feelings in Cups. Even cards like Failure, in Cups, still have a tinge of sweetness to them. Remember to connect the emotions present in the cards with the other indicators in the reading.
