You're going to want as many allies as possible in order to help you through any tough situations, not to mention that rifts with other people are tough situations in and of themselves. More than anything, you're going to feel a little reliant on advice from others before making decisions (even small ones), which is another primary reason you need to keep people on your good side.

However, often in order to keep things on happy terms, people need to make concessions so that everyone can move past differences peacefully. In most of your relationships, one side will eventually buckle to let the other have its way. Try holding out for a bit longer to see if someone else will give up their demands, but if both of you seem to be butting heads, it might be a good idea to eventually relent and let the other person win. It's a bit of a game in that sense, but as long as everyone keeps things civil, everyone wins. Best of luck.
