Happy Birthday Mom!
My Mom is kind of tiny, but she is tough... Not so much in her personality but more in her strong convictions & beliefs... If that's not enough, she's also great with power-tools!! hehehe... Her father was a Baptist Minister... Her Mom was Sioux Indian who had 12 kids before she died... (no birth control there huh?)... Actually... My grandfather re-married & had 10 more kids... (making it a total of 22)... So as you can see, I come from a long line of "horny individuals"... hehehe... Then again, what would you expect from someone named "well-en-dowd"... Ooops... I mean "whelland dowd"... hehehe...
My Mom is ultra Spiritual... Not in a religious or "new-age" way... She taught us to "roll with whatever happened"... She grew up on farms & had to work her ass off as a kid... Then she had to do it all over again raising 7 kids of her own too... My folks could have cared less what any of us chose to do in our life (in terms of profession)... They never said a word about it, but just by their example we learned how to put our heart & soul into the things we do... No retreat, no surrender... (as Bruce would sing)... hehehe...
What a job she did... Somehow, she figured out what each of us needed (by listening to the Voice of the Spirit) and helped us find our own way... But regardless of what we do, we are a part of something bigger called a family... If I listed what my brothers or sisters do it might sound like I am braggin'... But in the big picture I think we all are pretty good at keepin' it all in perspective... One might be advising the President or other World Leaders... another might be on TV or teaching in at the University economic policies... Another might be traveling all over the globe fixing power-plants... Another might be helping to find & provide housing for those who are physically or mentally disabled... Or even writing 'scopes for approx 165 million people... But when you go home, it's... "How 'bout a cuppa-coffee & a sammich?"... That's where PHd's disintegrate into PBR's (peanut butter & jelly)... hehehe...
It's not what you do, it's how you do it... It's all about whether or not you're willing to put your heart & soul into your life & the things you do... It's knowing it's ok to fail as long as you can stand tall & start again... That you don't have to be perfect, but you do have to treat others with the respect & dignity they deserve... To never forget that people matter most... More than anything though... You have to "Keep the Faith"... Even in the roughest times of your life... Because "Better Days & Higher Love are comin' soon"... Yeah, that's what my Mom taught me. Happy Birthday Mom & thanks!!!
