Mercury Retrograde can be a b*tch. We are all familiar with the mishaps that follow a Merc Retro transit: misinterpretations, misconceptions, misinformation, misunderstandings, misfortunes, and just plain missing the bus (literally and figuratively.) So how do we cope with Merc Retro? We adopt the Boy Scouts motto: Be Prepared That’s right. Prepare, expect, and leave time to for the mistakes to occur and to correct them. We double-check our work. We take the time to do the research and then do some more as a cross-reference. We leave enough time to check over other people’s work because they are subject to world class mistakes as well --mistakes that could affect you and your life. So don’t leave it in the hands of FedEx Kinkos, now called FedEx Office. Check the items before you leave. Check the receipt and make sure you were charged the right amount. Yeah, I know. It sucks. You have to turn on Robocop, Terminator, anal-retentive mode. Assume the worst and be happy when you assumed wrong. When Merc Retro is at play, the best offense is good defense. Create actionable plans: Plan A and Plan B! Leave room in your schedule for biggest of blunders to occur and then account for the time it will take to get back on track. Don’t arrive to the airport an hour before your domestic flight. Leave two hours ahead. Understand that traffic will be chaotic: traffic lights will be out of order, it will be difficult to catch a cab, or call for the car service. The cell phone will drop more phone calls than it ever did before—yes, the service will be horrible. Be sure to have your AAA card handy, because the chances you’ll face a flat tire on the way to that all important meeting is high. Send yourself the email and save the backup copy of the critical presentation. Don’t leave anything to chance. They say that during Merc Retro, call centers and customer service centers receive the highest amount of incoming calls, because people’s stuff stops working (or stops working the way it should work.) Understand that all the stuff was created during a time when Mercury was Direct. So to combat it, we should have stores that only sell Merc Retro-produced items: things that were made during Merc Retro for use only during Merc Retro, so that they work properly during Merc Retro. Perhaps that’s too extreme? Most of those calls are “freak out” calls, where people are being completely irrational in their claims and can’t understand why their oft dependable computer is acting up this time ‘round. Had they followed the above advice (or at least read about it ahead of time), those call centers would be just as quiet as they were pre-Merc retro. Those call centers should hand out pamphlets detailing “what to do during Merc Retro.” But of course, considering the nature of people, those pamphlets would get tossed in the recycling. Most of Merc Retro is “false positive.” For example, my car’s “Service Engine” light always pops on during Merc Retro. I treat that car better than I treat my significant other. I practically have it on a schedule to get the transmission fluids flushed and the oil changed. The tires are brand new. The tank is always half full or full. You could eat off of the seats and floors (not sure you’d want to), but you could if it came down to it. And yet, the “Service Engine” light is on? All of that is Merc Retro. The minute Merc Retro is over, like clockwork, it goes back to normal. Don’t let Merc Retro snow you. Be on your ps and qs as well as double-ps and double qs.

The universe is asking that you start attending large group gatherings. It would behoove you to join a few large groups or organizations. Join a rotary club or a charity. Faites attention! Special occasions like these result in too many cooks in the kitchen. While in attendance, you'll need to carve out a space for yourself. Consider hosting the event or sponsoring the event, where you can be sure to receive a platform all your own. But just be sure to not fall prey to the “group-think” mentality. Mercury is retro now, so what you hear is not what is really being uttered. It’s all subject to interpretation. Go for the socializing. Don’t go for the gossip, secrets, false promises, and rumors.
