Daily Horoscope for Gemini Summary

What is your response to the statement, “Life is simple?” Most people’s ego alarms go off and immediately they get their dander up and say, “Uh, yeah, right. Maybe you’re livin’ on easy street, but my life is complicated.” Believe it or not, we’re all handed the same set of tools when we are brought into this world. We all have the same elements to work with: Time, Life, and Love.* Now, stick with me here.

Mr. Ego-laden states his life is complicated because it gives his life more meaning. The thinking lies in, “if I create havoc, mayhem and drama, if I convolute, neglect, and obfuscate areas of my life, if I twist and make things more complex, I will feel worthy of living.” Weird, right? Some people’s only way of living is to feel pain or hurt in order to justify being here.

But consider the converse. “If I create peace, calm, and serenity, if I bring clarity, direction, and attention to areas of my life, if I make things more simple, I will feel worthy of living.” To many, the second version feels boring. It reads like a self-help book. There’s no friction. There’s no clash. However, the first one is rife with tension. It reads like a soap opera or a cinematic opening weekend tagline.

Re-read it again, aloud this time, and compare the two. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

You read it again, right? It carries the exact opposite meaning to the phrase above. And ideally, if you follow the latter, your life will become simpler.

But who wants simple?

I’ll tell you why Mr. Ego doesn’t want simple. He wants misery. If we remove what makes us miserable, then we no longer have an excuse to be unhappy and to act out. We no longer have a reason to indulge in our vices. We no longer have a reason to be stressed out. If we resolve our many problems (most of the problems we constructed on our own volition), then we have no reason to be upset. We only have ourselves to blame, for our own happiness (or despair). We have no other outside forces holding us back.

It’s like a convict who has been released from incarceration. There’s a clear and open path ahead of him. He has a clean bill and there are no obstacles to hinder him. He is a free man. Yet, most freed men never last long outside of the walls of the prison, because they need a constant force opposing them to remind them why they are here. The takeaway from this polemic is the idea of perception. Do you perceive yourself be living the dream or living in hell? We create our own respective heavens and hells. If you feel you’re in the latter portion, then consider what it takes to cut out all the fat (and drama) in your life and lay the groundwork for your own easy street. Today you are going to step into the shoes of the newly released prisoner. Which path are you going to take? Which life are you going to lead?
