Daily Horoscope for Pisces Summary

Let's talk about guns for a short while. In the recent discourse, you would think they just came out with guns. Oh my God, they kill people! They're so awful! We have to limit them to the best of our ability! No. Guns have been around for hundreds of years. They may have invented new guns as time as gone along, but the overall premise is still the same. You point one at something with the intent of hitting a target, and if that target is a living thing, you're trying to inflict some serious hurt on it.

People have reacted to the Sandy Hook thing the way that they've reacted to everything in this evolving age, with hyperbole. Is a massacre at a elementary school a bad thing? Certainly, it's a terrible act. But my gripe is more in the response. Why are people more outraged now? There have been uncountable tragedies of a random person going into a public area and opening fire and killing folks in recent past, many of these occurrences happening in schools themselves. People have been killed by gun violence in this country everyday since, well the beginning of it. All of a sudden though, now there's a problem. Now there's national discourse on it.

I'm not anti-gun either. There's a place for guns. We probably don't need to have these mega-weapons that can mow down 20 people in 30 seconds, it's not really in the realm of “personal defense” or “target shooting” or “hunting”. It's overkill. But the response just doesn't seem to solve the problem or even address the root of the problem. Getting rid of guns isn't going to make the mentally unstable stop wanting to lash out in acts such as this. Constant reminders of such acts only seems to serve as further motivation for some people who feel as though they need to make some form of diabolical impact on the world. Perhaps some people feel as though the world doesn't respect them. As though they can't leave their imprint doing things the standard issue way. The truth of the matter is you do some heinous thing like this and you garner some sort of infamy for it. As you read this, in fifteen seconds you can probably run the list of notable assassins of the top of your head, and you can probably run the names of the most notorious mass killings as well. Perhaps a better solution to the problem isn't coming up with these gun regulations that are easily bypassed by just carrying more guns. Perhaps what we really need to do is to stop the persistent coverage of such events. It runs counter to the juicy nature with which we as people dissect negative news, but if there's no global impact to be felt, maybe it dissuades the next guy from trying to become another notable name in the pages of human history.

Anyways, to get to the astrological portion of this week's summary, Mercury and Jupiter are hooked up, and this is going to have us discussing where we want to go and what goals we're trying to accomplish. It's positive energy at it's core. It will be great for planning. It will assist in gaining the momentum and confidence we need to carry things through.

The flipside is the Mars and the Node have beef. So the execution isn't going to be there. We're going to actually do things that take us off of our intended paths in life. We might rush things in order to alleviate this anxiety we feel inside, only the process of rushing makes things go haywire (or other people reconsider offers they were previously going to hold to that would work in our favor). So in all, we should slow down, think things through and be patient and wait for the right time to take action regarding our goals. Many of the problems we face in life don't need to be solved as quickly as we think, but they do need to be solved in the correct manner, or else we end up treating the symptoms of the problem and not the problem itself. It's too easy to fixate on new methods and knowledge as a way to get ahead. The problem is that you can be looking for easy solutions, when you really just need to hunker down and do what needs to be done. You're going to find it easier to get ahead when you operate from a position of comfort, but this means you need to stick to the areas you're already strong, rather than looking to branch out into new territories. It's going to be too hard for you to quickly adapt to new surroundings to really make a big impact.
