However, if you start treating imagination like it's truth, that's going to cause you to make some bad decisions. So the only way to avoid the madness is to get the facts.

Aside from that, you might find some people are more prone to bickering here. Much of this comes in a "I am determined to prove I'm right" sort of way. Being right usually is a good thing, but it's not the only thing. So there may be times where you need to look at the bigger picture before drawing lines in the sand. Making some form of concession on that end can help maintain relationships where you're in arguments instead of allowing animosity to build up.

Overall, remember that perception is wonky right now and most of the things you are currently thinking about are going to be a little off-base. The finer details will emerge with time, but in the meantime, only put stock in the things you can validate and don't count on anything else - that will help you make reasonable decisions here.
